Location: Coquitlam Amateur Radio Club
Dates: Fall 2019 (4 Saturdays) September 21, 28and October 5 and 19. Exam on October 19.
Time: 9:00am to 4:00pm (lunch included)
Registration: The class size will be limited to the first 12 registrants.
The basic course will take place on 4 Saturdays and will consist of presentations, demonstrations, practice questions with the final examination on the last session. The focus will be on question bank provided by Innovation, Science and Economic Development, Canada (previously known as Industry Canada): http://apc-cap.ic.gc.ca/pls/apc_anon/apeg_practice.practice_form
The course consists of:
- Rules and regulations
- Operating procedures
- Station assembly, practice and safety
- Basic electronic theory
- Feed lines and antennae
- Radio wave propagation
- Interference and suppression
The final exam consists of 100 questions with a pass mark of 70%. This will qualify the student for VHF and UHF privileges and a call sign. Those who achieve a pass mark of 80% or better qualifies them for the HF band privileges. Students are encouraged to download the exam generator from the ISED Canada web site http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/025.nsf/eng/h_00040.html to assist the learning process.
